Woo! It is such a special day here at FiveSibes homestead ~ our beautiful, super smart, sassy, and bossy alpha queen Harley is celebrating her 14th Birthday!  Our FiveSibes alpha queen "Harley Nanuk Mari" It is amazing to me that my daughter, who is married with a family of her own, was just 17 years old when we travelled in the pouring rain to bring THE most beautiful Siberian Husky puppy home! She has always been in love with the breed, and when our rescue Akita/German Shepard Chelsey was in her golden years, we opened our hearts and home to the stunning Husky puppy with such an intense mask, fulfilling not only my daughter's dream, but she would also soon become the leader of the future FiveSibes pack family, who all have added so much joy to my life! One of my all-time favorite photos from when my daughter was young was this one taken back 22 years ago with our adopted German Shepherd/Akita "Chelsey." Chelsey and Jenn were best buds. She was an amazing dog, who was so easy to train, and was such a good girl. She would listen to my commands, and perform them perfectly every time. If i asked her to "stay,"  no one, but me, could get her to move! I taught her to "watch" my daughter, which she always did. In this photo, my sister-in-law was creating a family photo album and was doing one of the winter months, and we decided a "reindog" photo would be cute with our girls. So, we staged the photo to look like I "Chelsey was hooked up to a sled with our girls on it in the snow! To this day, this photo brings a chuckle because my daughter and I dubbed it the "grumpy sled dog" photo because if you look closely at Chelsey, she looks like she is snarling and very unhappy. What a great pic submitted by Angela Moore of her beautiful Husky, "Sasha!" Angela tells me that her Sasha was "adopted her from our local animal shelter last year. I was told she is a pure breed, but I'm not sure. She was kept strictly outside before, so, not housebroken. She'd just had a litter of puppies, and her breeders decided they didn't want her anymore. 😕  When we took her home, she was fearful, distant, and sad. She has changed a lot in a year, though. She may be car sick, and skittish, but she's totally adorable and greatly loved! She and her 'sister,' Rizzi, get along great, too!" Lucky Sasha! How I loved his beauty, his playfulness, his zest for life, and oh, that magnificent waterfall tail! There's a whole lotta hopping going on! First up, we are flashing back a few years to one of my favorite memories of my  now furangel Gibson, who was enjoying his rehab walking after a period of time where he was dealing with a weak hind end and a torn CCL due to side effects of his epilepsy medicine. During a rest, he raised his head toward the sunny sky, closed his eyes, and looked so blissful, I just had to snap his photo and pair it with the amazingly true quote. I look at this photo often and smile. Always a champion, Gibson truly enjoyed every minute of life. He was, and will always be, an inspiration to me, and remind me that even during tough times, be sure to take a few minutes to embrace and appreciate this wonderful life we have.
