Memories of Snowstorms Past on a Flashback Friday, Last Call for Bids & Photos & Daily Epi-Tip

Image
S-n-o-w! Is there a better word for a Siberian Husky to hear? With the forecasts calling our area's first "snow" of the season, accompanied by arctic-like weather caused by the polar vortex, one can only think of snow! While I'll confess that the Husky kids are going to be a bit more excited than me about the snow, I do have some worries this year with Harley having a new diagnosis of arthritis in her rear right leg and Gibson having his continued hind end weakness, a ramp covered in slippery snow does cause some concern. But I know when the beautiful fluffy flakes of sparkling white fall from the sky in a beautiful silent world, I will enjoy it the beauty and the peace. This photo is a flashback to two years ago when all 20 paws were happily and healthily on the ground together enjoying a fresh snowfall!     Tomorrow - Saturday, November 15 - at 8 PM EST, our FiveSibes #LiveGibStrong K-9 Epilepsy Awareness online auction will close! ...

Couples (Laser) Therapy, and Come Peek Inside #LiveGibStrong Epi-Awareness Benefit Auction! Also our November Daily Epi-Tip

Image
Our resident couple had in-home laser treatments together, a kind of Siberian Spa Day! Gibson receives it for his weakened hind end (from his epilepsy meds) and arthritis in his knees from his meniscus and CCL tears, while Harely has been diagnosed with arthritis in her right leg. The laser is amazing and I've been a huge advocate of it for years now. If you look closely, you'll see that Gibson enjoys his treatments so much, he actually fell asleep while vet tech Jess administered it! Here's a sneak peek of a few items - Auction ends this Saturday at 8 PM EST! So come on over - there's so many beautiful and new items, some handcrafted with love, for just about every one on your holiday gift list! Visit us HERE.  Now here's your peek!

Veterans Day: Honoring K9 Soldiers and Our #LiveGibStrong Epi-Tip #11

Image
Today is Veterans Day. Let us all please take a moment to reflect upon all of our veterans, past and present, two-legged and four-legged, those who bravely defended our country, those who gave their lives, as well as those currently serving. If you see a veteran, remember to say "Thank You" for his/her service. Since this is a canine blog, we'll be focusing on the four-legged veterans and their dedication and service. And a great way to honor our military working dogs is to stop by a local shelter and make a donation of food, treats, goods, or money in the name of a K9 soldier. This year, 2014, marks a very special Veterans Day in the canine world as military canines became part of the New York Veterans Day Parade! An honor over due! According to ABC News, "New York's Veteran's Day parade a/k/a "America's Parade," honored all veterans, even the canine ones. For the first time in the parade's history, six military dogs...

Flashback Friday Revisits Gibson's Book Debut, Great Book Reviews & November's Epi-Tip #7

Image
It's Flashback Friday and it's since it is also November's Epilepsy Awareness Month , I thought I'd partner up the two. This photo is a throwback to November 2011 when my first FiveSibes™ Tale, What's Wrong With Gibson? Learning About K-9 Epilepsy (ArcticHouse Publishing) was published. Based on Gibson's true story of being an Epi-dog (canine epileptic), this adorably illustrated book by artist Michelle Littler, tells in rhyming format all about when a dog (Gibson) has a seizure, how he gets help (from the pack family), and has a few tips that should a child see their own pet in a seizure, they hopefully won't be afraid and they will even know a thing or two to do to help.    Writer's Digest Magazine ***   “What’s Wrong With Gibson? covers a topic with which many simply aren’t familiar – K-9 Epilepsy – and it is written in a delightful style that is both entertaining and informative for virtually any age group, from...
