A Chat With Gibson Marks 6-Month Anniversary

Image
A chat with Gibson. ( Video may not play on mobile devices ). Today marks the six-month anniversary of the day that my sweet big wooly boy, Gibson, journeyed North of the Rainbow Bridge. I so miss him. I loved and miss all of our wonderful "conversations," how he would say, "Love You!" and the stomping of his big polar bear paw for emphasis! The above video clip is bittersweet - bitter, of course, because he is no longer physically here, but oh-so-sweet because the memory brings a smile to my face and just floods me with joy as I remember all the wonderful days like this one. With all the challenges he faced being an Epi-dog, he was beautiful, brave, so very silly, and just the happiest Husky! He was, and always will be, my inspiration to push on during the hard times, lay back and enjoy the good times, and always greet each day with a big smile, just like he did. Six months. Half a year. FiveSibes "Gibson" Les Paul of Mystic Mountain January 6, 2006 ~ December 16, 2015  Happy 10th Birthday to my sweet FurAngel Gibson on his first birthday in Heaven. If you were to ask me a month ago, I'd tell you this certainly was not how I was planning on spending today. But then again, we never do plan for these days, do we? While we know the day is inevitable, we secretly hope it never comes, that maybe it will be forgotten by fate... I spent most of today reminiscing...looking at photos and videos of Gibson with me and his pack family. I had hoped today would be similar to birthdays of the past - a day of celebrating with Gibson and the FiveSibes, complete with new toys, a singing toy "cake," Husky games, and a special bone-shaped ice cream cake proudly sporting those double digits 1-0, seven of them beating Canine Epilepsy and the seizure "monster."  Let's eat cake! January 6, 2012 I can see so clearly all those birthdays pas...

Goodbye, Sweet Smokie

Image
We are so sad to announce that our sweet Smokie earned her furangel wings and crossed the Rainbow Bridge suddenly today. I received a phone call this morning that she was hit by a car right around the corner from our house. A good samaritan (who did not hit her), named Gwen, stopped, picked her up, brought her to our vet, who rushed her into emergency surgery. Both Gwen and our vet called me to let me know what happened. Smokie did not make it...she passed from a brain hemorrhage, but our vet assured us that she did not suffer. My daughter and I are devastated. We were with her as she began her journey to the Rainbow Bridge, even though she had already passed.  As many of you know, Smokie was a starving, abandoned young cat when my daughter rescued her. She has been a loving part of our lives for over four years. She loved to roll in the grass, get her tummy rubbed, and we always joked that she was our "watch" cat as she was always patrolling and sunning herself in the...
