Rainbow Bridge 🌈 Remembrance Day

Image
"You came into my heart one day,  So beautiful and smart,  My dear and sweet companion,  I loved you from the start.  And though I knew the time  would come,  When we would have to part,  You’ll never be forgotten,  You left paw prints on my heart."  ~Author Unknown Return to Home page to visit our  other posts & pages!     #ForeverFiveSibes

Celebrating National Dog Day, Where Something New is Happening! Hint: Rescues & Shelters Need Apply!

Image
Woo! How did you all spend your National Dog Day yesterday? It was pretty hot and humid here still, so today (when my glasses fogged up from the humidity as soon as I stepped outside), we decided to forego sweating outside while the grandkiddos and Wolfie splashed in the kiddie dog pool and opted for all of us hiding in the a/c most of day! Wolfie *thought* he wanted to go outside for our usual play and hang time, but immediately did an about face, staring at the sliding door willing it to open back up to the cool house! I was right behind him! While here at FiveSibes I believe every day is a dog day when you have one as part of your family, August 26th is an actual designated dog holiday! Now, if you're not familiar with this special day, we'll give you a little background!   National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by pet lifestyle expert and author Colleen Paige. According to Colleen, " National Dog Day celeb...

A Visit From North of the Rainbow Bridge on a #FlashbackFriday

Image
Our beloved four FiveSibes furangels:  Bandit, Chloe, Harley & Gibson #Flashback Photo: Spring 2015     Do you believe in signs from our beloved departed dogs?   Today's Flashback goes back to the Summer Solstice, which if you are a Husky or northern breed dog parent, you probably already know that solstices and equinoxes are special times to light a candle and remember all of our dearly beloved pups who have made their journey to North of the Rainbow Bridge. (If you'd like to learn more, or to include your dog on the Sibernet's list, please visit the Siberian Husky Memorial Candle Lighting page HERE . The next candle lighting will be on the Autumn Equinox, August 22, 2021). The Summer Solstice, which was on June 20th this year, brought about today's wondrous story. The morning broke as usual in our house, with my daughter brewing coffee, Wolfie wooing to go out, and the grandkids laughing and screeching to their morning games and shows. After all the ini...

COOLING DOWN AN EPILEPTIC DOG: WHERE DO I PUT THE COOL PACKS?

Image
Updated: November 13, 2025   W hen a dog goes into a seizure, their body temperature can rise dangerously high. In an effort to keep them cool, research has been done on where to place cool packs on your dog.* When my own Gibson had his first seizure, all I had was a loaf of frozen Italian bread and a bag of frozen peas in my freezer. And that's what I used! Along with our veterinarian, I developed this "Cooling Down an Epi-Dog: Where Do I Put Cold Packs?" to help others with Epi-dogs understand the importance of cooling down a seizing dog, as well as tips for keeping them cool before, during, and after a seizure.    I'm super proud of my cooling down an Epi-dog poster and happy to know it has helped Epi-dogs across the world to #LiveGibStrong! Today, there are some pretty cool cooler vests, and even a human one our friends over at Oh, the Life of Olivia shared on our page, but with Gibson being a 98 lb - 120 lb (at times due to meds), and with with being a wooly Hus...

#FlashbackFriday: Best Book Signing Ever! Special Guest: Buddy, the Christmas Husky!

Image
Meeting Buddy will always be a special moment for me. Wow! Today's Flashback is a very special anniversary…five years ago, August 12, 2016, I had a book signing for my book Buddy, The Christmas Husky~A True Holiday Miracle , and the real, very sweet and handsome Buddy, the Christmas Husky traveled from Georgia with Mama Shay, to join me!  2016 PR poster for event! Along the way, they met up with Buddy’s road companion, Nala, who was on her way to her new forever home with momma Sue. Buddy and Nala were dubbed the #TravelingHuskies, as they traveled the East Coast, they stopped along the way to meet some wonderful #TeamBuddy friends! (If you're not familiar with the story, Team Buddy are all the wonderful folks from across the globe who came together to help Buddy, a once abandoned, abused, and wounded Siberian Husky who was rescued on Christmas Day by a kindhearted good Samaritan, Geneva Ryan before Shari "Mama Shay" Baillargeon came to forever foster him!)  Once w...
