September 11, 2001. 9/11. Fourteen years ago the face of our U.S. landscape changed forever when we were attacked on our own soil. Today, 9/11, is dedicated to all those  - canine and human - who fearlessly responded to the call of duty that day, and the days following, at the World Trade Center in New York City, in the Staten Island landfill, at the Pentagon in Washington, DC; and in the Pennsylvanian field. Since this is a canine blog, I'd like to talk about the amazing four-legged heroes...more than 300 of them who answered the call that day and the many days following. September 11, 2001. Twelve years ago. I remember exactly where I was when the news broke. A horrific day. Babies have grown up. Young children are now adults. Search and Rescue (SAR) dogs retired and passed on. Time marches on, but we will never forget.  On this memorial day of 9/11, we want to pay tribute to all the heroes of that day, and those days following the attacks on America...both human and canine. We are still a nation in healing. I think we will always be. We are so thankful for all those who answered the call that fateful day, even though the two simple words "Thank You" just does not seem enough to express our gratitude. Our hearts go out to the families of lost loved ones, and our deepest, sincerest thanks to all of the heroes of 9/11. We will always remember. There are so many 9/11 stories, many still untold. Today is dedicated to all those  - canine and human - who  responded to the call of duty that day, and the days following, at the World Trade Center in New York City, in the Staten Island landfill, at the Pentagon in Washington, DC; and in the Pennsylvanian field.   Last year on this date, Jersey City’s Liberty State Park - directly across the river from Ground Zero - was the site of a recognition ceremony organized by the Finding One Another (FOA) and held in honor of the Search and Rescue (SAR) K9 heroes who responded to a call for help that day and the ensuring weeks that followed  9/11. While a majority of the dogs of 9/11 have now journeyed across the Rainbow Bridge, the ceremony highlighted highlighted the diligence, loyalty, and devotion of those working dogs.  “The most important thing for America to know about ...

T oday marks the tenth anniversary of 9/11. It's hard to believe that the day all of our lives were forever changed is a decade old. Newborns are now entering middle school. Five-year-olds are now high school students, and high school students are now college graduates, many with careers and families of their own. While time has certainly marched on, that fateful day will never be forgotten. For the families who lost loved ones, for the rescue workers, volunteers, and canines with their handlers who all responded to the calls for help...this blog is dedicated to you. Thank you for your endurance and dedication. We will never forget.
