Image
Pictured above was my boy Wolfie's first visit to the beach!  What a fun day that was! Summer is STILL in full swing, and to celebrate, what’s better than National Beach Day?   While some kids in certain areas are back to school, while others are still enjoying the hot days of summer, did you know t oday is International Beach Day? Founded by Colleen Paige, pet and lifestyle expert and self-proclaimed “beach lover,” Beach Day celebrates everything from enjoying the sandy shores with family and friends to hosting a beach clean-up day on August 30th, but I say why not all month long! Whether you are planning a seaside vacation, or live near on or by the shore, a beach is a great place to enjoy romping and splashing with your dog!   Before heading off to the shimmery waters with your canine companion, beach blanket, umbrella, and cooler, here are some important things to do ahead of time: Confirm that the beach is dog-friendly. Celebrating 10 Years of "The Sibe Vibe" Show on Dog Works Radio: "If It's About A Siberian Husky, We'll Chat About It Here!"

In the Siberian Husky "ease" of speaking, "Wooooo!" is something that really transcends time and language. And it fits perfectly for today's #FlashbackFriday post! It was 10 years ago that I began my journey as a writer and host of the Dog Works Radio show, "The Sibe Vibe ! " I can remember so clearly Robert Forto - my producer and owner/producer of a family of Dog Works Radio shows, as well as the Alaskan Mushing team, Team Ineka - approached me with the idea to host a show about my five Siberian Huskies (fondly known as the #FiveSibes) and about the amazing Siberian Husky breed. At first, I balked. I'm a career photojournalist and author, and quite comfy BEHIND the lens of a camera, not in front of a microphone! But, Robert did convince me and what a glorious ride it has been~~from writing "The Five Sibes" catchy theme song to working with a designer on a logo that incorporates my FiveSibes as their cartoon characters featured in my F

An Icy Christmas in August

"Icy" poses with my Buddy, the Christmas Husky book!   Today we are joining in the "Awww Mondays" with this (p)awesome shot! Thanks so much to Cathy Armato of DogsLuvUsAndWeLuvThem.com for this great photo of her beautiful Siberian Husky "Icy" with my book Buddy, the Christmas Husky~A True Holiday Miracle!   This book was based on the true story of beloved Buddy (who became quite famous and you can follow over on his Mama Shay's Buddy, the Christmas Husky Facebook page HERE) . Buddy was abandoned and abused and hardly recognizable when found. He could barely walk, was all alone, in the snow on a busy street where passersby beeped at him and never stopped. Thankfully, he saved by a Good Samaritan on Christmas morn. I recently shared a fond #FlashbackFriday post all about Buddy's visit to join me in a Book Signing - if you missed that post, you can read all about it and see the video HERE.   This book is a heartbreaking-to-heartwarming tale of how

Got Ice? Smart Husky Says Yes! on a #FlashbackFriday!

Flashback Photo ~ Wolfie ~ August 2012 Siberian Huskies truly are very smart - sometimes too smart for their own good! This Flashback will always be one of my favorites. I recall this day so clearly - and it is now 10 years ago! I was sitting in my living room when I heard the ice dispenser on our fridge. Thinking it was my daughter getting some for a drink, I heard it again. When I went into the kitchen, the above is what I saw - my boy Wolfie helping himself to the ice! Now, I knew Siberian Huskies were smart, but here my boy had seen us getting ice, and decided to help himself! To say I was surprised is putting it mildly! Good thing being a photojournalist, I always had my camera handy to catch him in the act! Now if only he knew how to fill a glass with ice and a drink and bring it to me! BOL! "The bond between owner and pet is like no other—they're our companions, always along for the ride no matter what ups and downs life brings. They show us joy and make us laugh, and
