Wacky Water Dancing on a Hot Autumn Day!

Image
Apparently Mother Nature does not want summer to be over here in the Northeast, with temps in the high 80s and humidity at almost 100, what's a snow dog to do? While washing down the deck, our alpha queen Harley dove right in for some wacky water dancing! When it's hot out, what makes a better partner than a spray of cool water to cha-cha-cha with?! Are you having wacky weather, too?  We are joining the Pet Parade Blog Hop today, hosted by DashKitten , Bionic Basil , and Barking From The Bayou! ***Many thanks to DashKitten for highlighting our blog today  on The Pet Parade!*** Check it out HERE !   Return to FiveSibes Blog Home Page Visit Our FiveSibes Website

Happy National Pet Day!

Image
Woo! While every day is Pet Day here at FiveSibes, today, April 11tth, is the official National Pet Day, founded by Colleen Paige, a pet and family lifestyle expert and animal welfare advocate.  "Make a Shelter Pet's Day ~  Visit, Foster, Adopt, or Donate!"  ~Dorothy Wills-Raftery, Author & FiveSibesMom One of my fave FiveSibes pics How did we spend the day here at FiveSibes? Just hanging out together! We reminisced about the days when my boy Gibson was here and the fun pack family shenanigans that took place, with his talking "I love you!" while doing his famous Gibbie Hip-Hop dance! Harley, Wolf, Chloe, and Bandit munched on treats. Their ortho beds had a nice spring cleaning. And, as you see pictured above, we packed up a bag full of new and very gently used dog toys that we donated to our local shelter to bring a little joy to homeless dogs in our community. It's important on days like this especially to think of the pets who are ...

#30DaysForEpiNovember - Day 8: Happiness

Image
My beloved Epidog, Gibson, brought me so much happiness...one of the moments that comes to mind was my birthday in 2015, where his beautiful likeness was on my cake, and he even managed to sneak in a few happy licks! ;-) Three months later, he crossed the #RainbowBridge. Grab those happy moments and cherish them!  Join us in the K9 Epilepsy Awareness Photo Challenge hosted by Confessions of a Rescue Mom!

We're Baaaaaaack!

Image
"Woo! Wait until you hear what happened to Mom and us!" Wow...it feels good to be back. We've been unexpectedly away for a few weeks due to health reasons, both me and three of my FiveSibes. I am not sure how many of my dear readers know that I was diagnosed with degenerative Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Fibromyalgia (FM) about six years ago now. Learning to adjust life to an auto-immune disease is something I am still trying to do. My head says "hey, let's do this and this and this..." while my body says, "um, nope." I always looked, and still do, to my Gibson for inspiration, who lived with Canine Epilepsy for most of  his life. He was truly amazing and as many of you know, he dealt bravely with many side effects of his medications, such as weak hind issues and lethargy. These issues are not much different from some of the issues I deal with on a daily basis having RA and FM.  I think of my sweet, brave furagnel Gibson all th...

Wolf, Siberian Husky Nurse on Duty!

Image
Wolf, Siberian Husky Nurse (S.H.N.) on Duty! My boy, Wolfie, (Gibson's little bro) has been living up to his "working breed" classification as he has been a very good furry nurse keeping an eye on me while I recuperate from acute bronchitis. He sleeps right on my feet, and hasn't let me out of his sight!   🐾 🐾 It's (Almost) Wordless Wednesday!

Bye, Bye Blizzard!

Um...sorry, Bandit. No way! Bye-bye, Stella!

Thank You to Vet Techs from the FiveSibes!

Image
Woo! We here at FiveSibes l-o-v-e our vet techs at Kingston Animal Hospital ! The loving and amazing care they have always given my pets - the FiveSibes and our kitties Smokie and Binx, goes beyond a job - their care comes from their hearts! As many of you know, my boy Gibson had many special needs stemming from his Canine Epilepsy that required much extra care (laser therapy on his weak hind end, CCL tear healed through Conservative Care Treatment/Management, a suspicious growth removal, and even at the end when he was suddenly stricken with a bleeding spleen and diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma and required IV drip and medication), some of which he required in-home care and treatments as he could not be transported. Our vet techs were right there not only caring for him, but loving him as well. I could not have done all what I did without them and our fabulous vet team. So today, we want to say a huge heartfelt "Thank You" to all of "Gibson's...

Locked Out! (A BOL Moment!)

Image
Not only are Siberian Huskies extremely smart, they are quite the characters, too! My daughter went out on the back deck to get Bandit in, only to be locked out of the house...by the other three Huskies! Wolf, Chloe, and Harley were inside and apparently one or all tripped the lock when they jumped on the back door to see what was taking Bandit so long! I was in the other room when my daughter tried to open door, and I heard her exclaim, "Seriously? You guys locked me out?! How does this happen?!" when she discovered it had been locked, by the Huskies! Upon entering the kitchen, I saw Wolf and Chloe innocently sitting just staring up at her through the screen door, as if to say, "We didn't do it!"  My daughter may not have seen the humor in it since she had to wait for me to let her in, but I sure did! (I'm still laughing)! So the next time you step outside, be sure to bring a phone because you never know when your dog ...

Paw Prints Forever on My Heart

Image
I've really been missing my big sweet boy, Gibson...and today began as one of "those" days where his absence feels so overwhelming. Then, while out with the rest of the #FiveSibes on the deck this morning, I actually heard a fifth set of paws crossing the wooden floor as they were all coming back inside... Perhaps a visit, or his way of showing us he is always with us.  Paw Prints On My Heart You came into my heart one day, So beautiful and smart, My dear and sweet companion, I loved you from the start. And though I knew the time Would come, When we would have to part, You’ll never be forgotten, You left paw prints on my heart. ~Author Unknown #MissingGibson #LiveGibStrong #FiveSibesForever #LiveGibStrongForever   Shared via Missing My Pets at the Rainbow Bridge Facebook page. And, as coincidence would have it, after I posted Gib's photo on social media, I then hop over to link up to BlogPaws' Wordless Wednesd...
