While September is National Pet Memorial Month , pet loss can happen at any time. Sometimes we know the loss is coming, at other times it may come out of the blue due to an accident or sudden illness. No matter how it happens, losing a beloved pet is traumatic and life altering. We are never ready for it. Sometimes, knowing our pet is in their golden years or very ill, we experience anticipatory grief. Other times, a sudden loss can shake us to the core.
