FBF: Fun Exploring New Snowy Lands With Huskies

FiveSibes #Flashback ~ Wolfie ~ February 2020

Ah, memories truly are visits for my heart. This photo brings back the time when we explored our new property under a layer of snow. The challenge was our new place was not yet "Husky-proofed" like our previous property. It was new for us and for our remaining two senior Huskies of my beloved FiveSibespupsters Wolfie and Bandit. We all had adjustments to make, including our Huskies. They went from a fully-enclosed yard where they ran free, to being on a leash until the new place was fenced in. I worried at first how this new place would be for them...a different yard—one where Gibson, Harley, and Chloe had never stepped a paw on—so not only was it a new layout of the land, but it was also sadly without our other beloved three Sibes, as they had already made their journeys to the Rainbow Bridge long before we moved.

This photo was in January when we first arrived. My husband was walking out in our snowy backyard with my young grandson running after them. In order to preserve their sense of freedom, I used a 26-foot long horse lunge line to give Wolfie and Bandit room to roam. Not the same as when they ran free at my other place, but the funny thing is with all my worrying, they adjusted just fine! Why? Because we were all together living the change. If I could go back six years and give my overly worried self a piece of advice, I'd say, "Self, please don't sweat it. It will all work out just fine. Wolfie and Bandit will adjust just fine because we are together."

We made each outing and day an adventure; a fun time of going for long walks and exploring new sites, sounds, scents, and meeting other pups along the way. And the Pupsters loved it. Exploring became the main theme, and the best part was watching my grandchildren grow and bond with the dogs in our place. And although it was a stressful period, I knew as long as we were all together, we could adjust to the newness and any bumps in the road along the way.

And together, we did.
