The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB) Named My Book "Wolfie, What Is The Rainbow Bridge?" to Their Recommended Reading List

I'm very honored to have my latest book, Wolfie, What Is The Rainbow Bridge? listed as a recommended read by the Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB).

"You will find books that cater to all age groups and backgrounds, as well as professional and educational works." ~Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB)

If you're not familiar with this supportive bereavement organization for pet parents, let me tell you a little about them.

What is the APLB?
The APLB was formed in October 1997 by Dr. Wallace Sife, and became a non-profit organization in 1999. According to APLB.org, Dr. Sife "Set up the APLB after losing his beloved miniature dachshund, Edel Meister in 1987. He was devastated and found his training as a psychologist of little help. Several years later. Dr. Sife created and established a practical model for the stages of grieving unique to pet loss derived and modified from the work of Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross on human loss."

Dr. Sife was a Korean war veteran and author of many publications on pet loss, including the award-winning book, The Loss of a Pet, that he himself had said was “The book I would have wanted for myself...."

It's stated that Dr. Sife would often reminded APLB members that “We are better people, individually and collectively, because of them.”

According to the APLB Director, Alana Birchall, BA, MA, "The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB) provides compassionate support for people grieving the loss of a beloved pet. Through free online chat rooms, professional resources, and membership benefits like memorials, webinars, and memory sharing, APLB creates a safe space for healing. Their trained volunteers and professionals guide pet parents through loss, offering comfort, understanding, and community."

What Kind of Information is on the APLB Website?
The APLB is place to honor and remember our beloved pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and also a place of support, individual pet memorials, recommended reading, a list of possible national financial assistance groups for those who may need help with veterinary care, chat rooms, video support group, training course to become a Pet Loss Grief Specialist, a directory of services including information for animal chaplains, companion animal doulas, pet cemeteries and crematories, pet loss support groups, veterinary social workers, and so much more.

The APLB's Recommend Reading List (that is located under the Support tab on their menu) is FREE to peruse and offers an expansive and vetted list of reading materials on pet loss anyone who has lost beloved pets. According to the APLB, "You will find books that cater to all age groups and backgrounds, as well as professional and educational works." My books is currently listed on page 7 HERE.

I am so proud that Wolfie, What Is The Rainbow Bridge? was accepted into their Recommended Reading library!  My grandson, who contributed to this very special book, what very excited to hear this, too!

My heartfelt thanks goes out to the APLB for approving and accepting my book into this very special and supportive group for folks who have lost their furry best friend(s). My continued hope is that Wolfie, What Is The Rainbow Bridge? will help other families who have children and need a soothing, sensitive book to read to them to help them through their grief, that includes a young child's perspective (my grandson) to help them understand that our beloved pets will always be with us in our hearts. The book also includes an elementary reading specialist approved word list, a discussion sheet to help with having conversations about the book and loss of the pet, as well as a page where the child(ren) can draw a picture of the pet and have it as a forever keepsake.

If you're new here and didn't realize I wrote a book about the Rainbow Bridge with my grandson, here's my video about Wolfie, What Is The Rainbow Bridge?
