Huskies Test Big Brother's Patience on a #FlashbackFriday!
#FiveSibes Flashback ~ 2011 ~ Gibson With "pupsters" Bandit & Wolfie
So, why is Gibson sticking out his tongue? It's not the first time since the puppies joined our family in 2009 that he donned this look! See, if you know the story of our FiveSibes, this will make sense to you. To recap, our OG FiveSibes were Harley (who joined our family in 2005), then Gibson (in early 2006)...and they were our "married couple" as Gibson fell in love with Harley the second his fluffy four-month-old self set eyes on her! So until 2008, it was just the two of them...until three two-and-a-half month puppies crashed their lives! When the puppies first came home, they took over well, everything!
"A family is a circle of love, not broken by a loss, but made stronger
by the memories."~Unknown
We had a beautiful flat-roofed dog log cabin (that I actually put together) that Gibson loved to lay on top of, channeling his inner Snoopy, while Harley lounged as the queen she was inside it! He loved to look in my kitchen window and watch me and talk while I did the dishes. Those were such fun days! I could see the love hearts circling above Gibson's head whenever his eyes met hers. But, when the "Pupsters" crashed their domain, and I do mean crashed (!)...it did put Gibson in a bit of tizzy for a short while. He even went off, set off to sit in the grassy backyard with his back to the newbies joining our family. For the first few weeks, he had the exasperated look of "when do they leave?" especially when they stole his favorite perch up on the log cabin dog house. That's when he would definitely stick his tongue out at them in big brother defiance! Today's flashback was 11 years ago now!
Then one day, they all began playing together, having wild zoomies across the yard, and napping together in a big five-puppy pile up, that they did forever more. So looking at this photo, which I had not seen in quite a few years, I had to laugh remembering all those early days. Gibson's expressions silently said a lot! But he really was the most patient and loving Husky I ever came across, and after his initial reaction to them, he became the best big brother to those young crazy Pupsters!
