Dear Gibson: A Heart Dog's Heavenly Birthday

 


 A Happy Birthday letter to my big beautiful fluffy boy, Gibson!

My beloved Gibson would be turning 18 tomorrow! Talk about mind-blowing.... so, I thought today it would make a perfect #FlashbackFriday—a good time for me to enjoy memories, or what I like to call a visit for my heart, with my Birthday Boy.

 

Dear Gibson...

Oh, my sweet Gibbie, you are missed so very much. This is your 9th birthday celebrated in Heaven...which is so unbelievable to me. You have been gone for almost as long as the time I had shared a life with you. I miss your Gibbie kisses, your beautiful deep-soul eyes, your silliness, your funky hip-hop dances, your wooing, your big fluffy polar bear paw, and yes, those Gibbie Nibbies...your little nibble love bites! I love how you loved Harley...oh gosh,  you were so smitten by her! And, oh, how you loved those birthday parties, especially cake time, and when after your first licks, Harley, Wolfie, Chloe, and Bandit would join in to enjoy the ice cream cake with you! Oh, how you all were so wonderful together!

Gibson, you are my inspiration and my hero dog. May you #LiveGibStrongForever in those snowy fields north of the Rainbow Bridge. Have some wonderful birthday zoomies with the beautiful FiveSibes pack...your love Harley, little brother Wolfie, and little sisters Chloe and Bandit. Send me some snow as a sign! I send you lots of Gibbie belly rubs...and please, give my Mom a special Gibbie kiss and send her my love. While it broke my heart to have you both leave me, it is comforting to know you followed her and are with her.

My big, fluffy G-Man, you will forever and always be in my heart. Oh, how I miss you being right by my side while I'm writing...you were such an inspiration, and always will be.

We sure accomplished so much together, 
and still are!

    Truly a lovely tribute to sweet Gibson! Those birthdays are difficult when they've earned their wings. I'm sending you lots of hugs. It's so wonderful you have everything so well documented with such beautiful photos. WOW!!! The rainbow Gibson sent was soooo special and definitely from him. He knew you needed him as did his pack. Such a sweet, lovable boy. Enjoy those special memories!

#PrayersForHarley - Dewclaw Tumor

Dewclaws. Such an unnecessary evil for a dog. In August, I noticed Harley limping. At 11-and-a-half, she is a bit stiff-legged at times from arthritis, but this was a more pronounced limp and she was having an extra tough time sitting down. She seemed very uncomfortable. She was also becoming a bit snarley, especially when I was touching her paw, which is something that never typically bothers her. Upon further checking, I noticed an odd lump around her dewclaw on her right leg, thinking it was possibly a pulled dewclaw, maybe a splinter, thistle, or even a bee sting , she became extremely agitated when I touched it.    (Warning: some photos may be somewhat graphic, but I am sharing for educational purposes).   Oddity beneath the dew claw.   Off to the vet we went. At the vet, Harley is protective of her paw by hiding it . Harley's paw was shaved and it uncovered a very large inflamed area surrounding the dewclaw and beyond, as you can see in the below photo

The Rainbow Bridge Welcomes A New FurAngel - Buddy, the Christmas Husky - A Forever Symbol of Hope for Rescued Dogs

My beloved Gibson is there. As is my Chelsey, Sandy, kitty Smokie, bunny Sunny, my fox Ah, many horses, and so many others pets. We have many furfriends who have also crossed The Rainbow Bridge. All of these beloved animals are there...so healthy and happy, with all the dogs enjoying their zoomies and playing Fetch all day in a land that is eternally beautiful. Sounds perfect. So while they are in a place where the spirit soars, our hearts are broken as we are missing them here with us. Fit For Our #FiveSibes Alpha Queen: Celebrating Harley's 14½ Birthday

Born on March 10, 2005, our beautiful alpha queen, pupster surrogate momma, and my daughter's and our first Siberian Husky,  turns 14½ today! You may be wondering why are we celebrating her half birthday? Because, as heartbreaking as it is, we now know she will not be here in March to celebrate her 15th Birthday as I once had hoped. Preparing Your Epi-Dog For The Solar Eclipse

No matter where you live, if you plan on watching the solar eclipse, aside from protecting your eyes from “eclipse blindness” with special American Astronomical Society approved eclipse glasses, but did you know that the eclipse could have an affect on your Epi-dog (epileptic dog)? With the simulation of “night” as the sun is covered by the moon, animals may go into a nocturnal mode, or seem restless or confused, while others, will be unfazed. However, the excitement of the eclipse by humans could create excitement in our dogs, whether they have epilepsy or not, as they pick up on our energy and moods.
