It's Tuesday, that Means it's Time for the "Canine Cooking Corner!"
Chloe is ready to whip up some delectable fixin's...and do some of her own taste testing! |
Happy almost Thanksgiving and welcome to the second installment of our "Canine Cooking Corner" Tuesday Blog Hop! Thank you to those who joined our inaugural recipe hop last week and also to those who wrote saying they will be hopping along in the future. We can't wait for you to join us!
This week, the FiveSibes would like to share another of their favorite dishes, just in time for Thanksgiving--Ground Chicken Pumpkin Feast. And when this is whipped up for them, they get right down to the business of eating! We hope you'll enjoy this little video highlighting the low-fat, high fiber (nap-inducing) recipe!
Here is the printed recipe in case the computer resolution is not clear enough:
We look forward to seeing what types of goodies you have planned for this week! Last week, Peggy's Place came by and Debbie Does Coupons featured our debut on her blog! Very cool! There were also some paw-stompin', snout smackin', wooin' good recipes folks and furpals shared. As a matter of fact, I'm preparing to make the FiveSibes some of those Oatmeal Turkey Treats submitted by canine hopper Cooking with Dogs. We already have the ingredients. And, we totally agree that it will certainly be a handy recipe to have after Thursday's Thanksgiving turkey leftovers. We are looking forward to also trying some of the other recipes as well. Gone to the Snow Dogs has a yummy pumpkin muffin recipe that will be dessert, and for some more delish treats, Norwood has shared his bowl-cleaning recipes! Tucker came by to share some feline food ideas that Smokie, our honorary Sibe cat, will surely enjoy!
Until next week...Bon Appetit!
Be sure to grab the Canine Cooking Corner code below and add onto your blog. (hopefully, the code is working this time!)

I'm hoping to have a Canine Cooking Corner page at a later date to more easily access all the shared recipes from our furpals and their Hu-families! So stay tuned!
Chicken?! Pumpkin?! I need a towel to wipe up my drool. You pups have the best mom! I was eating vicariously with you. It looked so yummy! I love this new idea of "Canine Cooking Corner" - and great name, by the way! I just need to work on my human to get her to join and start cooking for me!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, just out of curiosity (although I am NOT a cat; dogs can be curious too!), what is the ball in the dog food dishes?
Suka
Hi, Suka! Thank you for your nice words! Glad you are enjoying the "Canine Cooking Corner" as much as we are! The ball is a Portion Pacer ball. It comes in various sizes (depending on the size of your dog) and its purpose is to help dogs to slow down the pace of eating to avoid gas, stomach issues, bloat, etc. Three of my Sibes just about inhale their food, so this helps them eat more slowly as they have to eat around it.
ReplyDeleteI just read your post on seizures and will be sure to visit the links. My mastiff had his first one back in July and I had hoped it was an isolated event. No such luck as he has had two in the past 24 hours. At least for the second one last night I knew to just keep saying his name and be available and he seemed comforted by that and even though he continued to pace for over an hour he kept checking in with me for head scratches.
ReplyDeleteCrating is not really an option given his size. I am lucky that so far his seizures have come when he is sleeping and there are only soft things around for him to bang in to. Thanks for the tips on the cool packs because he did get very warm afterwards and with such a big dog I think overheating is more of a risk.
I have a call out to my vet and am trying to stay calm. Nothing out of the ordinary going on around here at all. In fact, very peaceful. Of course the Thanksgiving holiday is coming soon and there will be a lot of action. I could put him in a room but to be honest that seems to cause him even more stress as in the past when I have done that he just howls and doesn't simmer down.
My little lab seems to want to stay away from him when he is recovering which is a good thing. I doubt I could convince my husband to monitor them while I am at work. Sigh.
We did go to the emergency room after his first one, but blood work all came back negative. No way we could transport him if he were stuck in a prolonged attack. Mercifully they have only lasted a minute or two so far.
My best wishes to you and your family. Give your pups a big hug from us.
Mango Momma
Poor Mango - I am so sorry. I'm confident the vet will recommend a prescription to help handle the seizures, especially since he has having more than just one. I've written you on your blog more in depth. If you need me, just Email or comment. I'd be happy to talk with you also if you'd like, anytime. Please know you are not alone in this.
ReplyDeleteWe all think pumpkin and chicken sounds great. We really want to hear about those oatmeal turkey treats - sounds yummers. We love finding new recipes, so this is a great idea.

Thank you for that delicious recipe. We love when our Mom cooks for us, so we'll tell her about this and maybe she'll try it soon.
