N ational Black Dog Day was founded by Colleen Paige, a pet and family lifestyle expert, author, animal Behaviorist and rescue advocate. She is also the founder of National Dog Day, Cat Day, Puppy Day, Mutt Day, Pet Day, Wildlife Day, Horse Protection Day and many more awareness holidays ! The idea behind today is to bring awareness to black dogs, who I think are absolutely stunning, but many for some reason, are sadly overlooked in shelters. As a photojournalist and longtime dog blogger, as well as a hu-mom to both a black and white Siberian Husky, and a back cat, I think they are so stunning!
