Thank You to Vet Techs from the FiveSibes!

Woo! We here at FiveSibes l-o-v-e our vet techs at Kingston Animal Hospital! The loving and amazing care they have always given my pets - the FiveSibes and our kitties Smokie and Binx, goes beyond a job - their care comes from their hearts! As many of you know, my boy Gibson had many special needs stemming from his Canine Epilepsy that required much extra care (laser therapy on his weak hind end, CCL tear healed through Conservative Care Treatment/Management, a suspicious growth removal, and even at the end when he was suddenly stricken with a bleeding spleen and diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma and required IV drip and medication), some of which he required in-home care and treatments as he could not be transported. Our vet techs were right there not only caring for him, but loving him as well. I could not have done all what I did without them and our fabulous vet team. So today, we want to say a huge heartfelt "Thank You" to all of "Gibson's Girls" who also take exceptional care of all of our pets, including Harley, Wolf, Chloe, Bandit, and kitty Binx.

In honor of National Vet Tech Week, I put together this video of some of our wonderful vet techs as they do what they do best - lovingly care for our pets. You can see just how much Gibson, Harley, and Chloe enjoyed all the special treatment. Gibson never realized he was being treated for his health issues, but rather having a "spa" day with his favorite girls - Jessica, June, Maya, and Sheri!

I'd also like to send out a "thank you" to LVT and Research Specialist Julie Nettifee of North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine for all of her work and research on behalf of Canine Epilepsy.

On behalf of the FiveSibes and our whole family, we send out our heartfelt "Thank You" to our very special Vet Techs and to all the amazing, caring Vet Techs everywhere! This week is for you!

  5. I spent a lot of time with vet techs when I worked/volunteered at a shelter, and the job they did was incredible. The fast pace, the hundreds of animals they had to care for, sometimes sad and stressful situations they had to endure and rarely appreciated. It's time we recognised the part they play.

  6. I love our vet techs at the clinic, and what I love especially is that I can email them questions and they email me back so I don't have to upset Layla with visits there all the time plus her medical records are on line and I can access them whenever I want

  9. I can not imagine how difficult of a job this is. I know that vets and techs have to have a lot of schooling! I could not do it personally, I would be too sad a lot of the time but I am eternally grateful for what they do.

  10. Vet techs are amazing people! I am so glad that yours were there for Gibson when he needed it most. It take a lot of patience and emotional strength to be in the veterinary industry. These people see the best and the worst of humanity.

  11. Vet Techs are so great. We have lovely ones at both the vets Kilo has been to. He is not a fan of vets and gets very nervous so they have made life a lot easier for him.

  12. We have some wonderful vet techs and some I'd rather not have handle the girls, because they seem uneasy with cats.

  18. What a terrific tribute to Vet Techs! They really are the unsung heroes of the Veterinary profession. I love that you included some great quotes in the video - and that neon sign! Was it a photo of an actual sign or is it photoshopped? Just wonderful, great job!
